My approach focuses on the client being the expert of their own life, and having the resources to make personal changes. I provide the safe place for open dialogue and exploration for the client to find his or her internal resources. I serve both as a sounding board and as a brainstormer to help come up with creative ideas and strategies for change and relief. The first thing I focus on is to ease any discomfort of being in "therapy" and to assure a good connection. I am prone to use of humor! But I always take my clients seriously. I have described the therapy I do with clients as a heartfelt conversation leading to more satisfaction in relationships. I welcome potential clients to come in on a one time basis, with or without their partner, to see if we are a good fit. After that, I recommend weekly sessions to get some good momentum, but am very flexible as to what scheduling my client prefers.

Moms do a lot on their own, so if this was easy to figure out alone you would have done so already. I know you are overwhelmed, unsupported, and isolated. I understand first hand how postpartum and motherhood can be more challenging than anticipated. My sole focus in my practice is to work with moms, whether you are struggling during the perinatal period or after loss, or you are well into your motherhood journey. In our work together we will sort through what you feel like is going wrong and how we can take steps for you to feel better. It isn't supposed to feel this hard, but the good news is that with the right support it gets better. Please feel free to look through my additional materials on my website and schedule a free consultation with me so that we can talk about what you are going through and see if you feel like I am the right fit.
The decision to start or return to therapy can be difficult and I am glad you took the first step. I have dedicated the last 20 years to the Social Services field and have provided therapy since 2018. I strive to meet people where they are and offer a non-judgemental space for all. I firmly believe you are the expert in your own life. While I am well versed in many theoretical frameworks, including Motivational Interviewing, Trauma Focused, Strength-Based, and EMDR, I will work with you to tailor sessions to best suit your needs and personality. While working with me you can expect honest feedback for change while feeling motivated and supported in your choices.
I approach therapy from a relational lens, looking to help you evaluate your relationship with yourself, how it may impact your relationship with others, how you represent yourself in the world, and how it's affecting your current sense of well-being. In addition to evidence-based interpersonal therapy (IPT), I also incorporate self-compassion and multicultural therapies into my practice, which help me to tailor therapy to your unique needs, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach to treatment. In a fast-paced world that is constantly asking us to do more or be better, it can be easy to lose sight of ourselves and our values. Even for those who are otherwise high achieving or functioning, the demands of our current culture can feel overwhelming. In therapy, we will work collaboratively to explore what's not currently working, and how to develop new ways of being that better support the life you'd like to live. Whether you're looking for someone to hold space for you, collaborate with you, or challenge you, or maybe even a little bit of each, we'll work together to help you to get the most out of therapy.
