You may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or frustrated by patterns you can't seem to change. Perhaps you're someone who takes care of everyone else, holds yourself to high expectations, or struggles to prioritize your own needs. You may understand why you think or feel a certain way, yet still find yourself repeating familiar behaviors, questioning your decisions, or struggling to establish and maintain boundaries.
Sometimes, the very strategies that helped us navigate earlier experiences become the patterns that leave us feeling stuck in adulthood. You may recognize that something isn't working but feel uncertain about how to change it. Or perhaps you're going through a significant life transition, experiencing grief, questioning a relationship, or simply feeling disconnected from the person you want to be.
I believe therapy is about more than managing symptoms. It's an opportunity to understand yourself more deeply, explore how your experiences have shaped you, and recognize patterns that may no longer serve you. I approach therapy with the understanding that our thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and relationships are influenced by a complex combination of experiences, beliefs, attachment patterns, and circumstances.
My approach is warm, collaborative, trauma-informed, and grounded in genuine curiosity about human behavior. I value creating an environment where you feel comfortable being yourself, asking questions, expressing difficult emotions, and exploring experiences without fear of judgment. You don't need to have everything figured out before beginning therapy, and there's no expectation that you arrive knowing exactly what to say.
I'm compassionate and supportive, but I'm also engaged and interactive. I don't believe therapy should be limited to someone listening while you talk. I'll offer honest feedback, ask thoughtful questions, help you consider different perspectives, and gently challenge patterns or beliefs that may be contributing to your distress. I also welcome your feedback because I believe the therapeutic relationship should be built on trust, collaboration, mutual respect, and open communication.
A central part of my work involves understanding the connection between your past experiences and your present life. We may explore family-of-origin dynamics, attachment experiences, relationship patterns, emotional responses, and the beliefs you've developed about yourself and others. These connections can help explain why certain situations feel particularly difficult, why you respond the way you do, or why familiar patterns continue appearing in different relationships and circumstances.
I believe many of our coping strategies developed for understandable reasons. Some may have helped us maintain connection, avoid conflict, feel safe, or navigate difficult environments. Recognizing where these patterns originated allows us to approach ourselves with greater compassion rather than criticism.
At the same time, understanding our behavior doesn't mean we are powerless to change it. I believe we can approach ourselves with compassion while also taking responsibility for the patterns and behaviors we have the ability to change. This balance of self-understanding and personal accountability is an important part of my therapeutic philosophy.
Together, we'll work to translate insight into meaningful action. Depending on your needs, this may involve developing healthier boundaries, improving emotional regulation, strengthening communication, challenging unhelpful beliefs, building self-compassion, or learning to respond differently to stress and relationship challenges.
I don't believe there is a single approach that works for everyone. Therapy should reflect your individual experiences, personality, values, and goals. Some sessions may focus on practical strategies for navigating immediate challenges, while others may involve deeper exploration of longstanding patterns, relationships, or emotions. We will work collaboratively to determine what feels most helpful and meaningful for you.
My goal isn't to tell you what decisions to make or who you should become. It's to help you develop the awareness, confidence, and trust in yourself needed to make choices that reflect your values and the life you want to create.
I also believe personal growth is an ongoing process rather than a destination. There is no point at which we suddenly have everything figured out. As life changes, we continue learning, adapting, and evolving. Therapy can help you approach that process with greater intention, flexibility, and compassion.
